Danny Masterson’s stepfather says his children lied to help their brother and perjured themselves by submitting a leniency request to the judge before the rape sentencing and says Scientology “brainwashed” them.

Danny Masterson’s stepfather has claimed his children lied to help their half-brother during his high-profile rape trial – and may have committed perjury in the process.
In letters asking for leniency for their older brother, Jordan and Alanna Masterson portrayed their father Joe Reaiche as a dead man and portrayed convicted rapist Danny as a parental surrogate.
In an interview this week, Reaiche – a former professional rugby player turned Scientologist who met Masterson’s mother in the ’80s – said he was considering suing his children over the letters and also accused the Clearwater Church of “brainwashing.”
The claims sent to The Daily Beast were eerily reminiscent of statements Reaiche made to DailyMail.com nearly a decade ago – in which he claimed all of his Scientologist children had disowned him after he was excommunicated in 2005.
In letters to Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo, 36-year-old Jordan and 35-year-old “Walking Dead” star Alanna both wrote that their father abandoned them “in every way” while they were still young were not 10 years old and forced the then 16-year-old Masterson to step up.

“My father, for all intents and purposes, left when I was six years old,” Jordan, a star of the sitcom “Last Man Standing,” wrote in one of several letters pleading for mercy for the “That ’70s Show” actor after he was convicted of raping two women in the early 2000s. “My little sister was four.”
Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith were among others who spoke up for the former prankster – although their accounts failed to convince Olmedo, who gave Masterson a sentence of 30 years to life in prison on Thursday.
Jordan wrote of his life and that of his siblings with his mother Carol after 1995: “We were raised by a single mother who worked her whole life to give her children a life we could be proud of.”
“She preached hard work and integrity, respect for self and others, kindness and patience,” he continued.
“No one embodies these qualities more than my brother Danny.”
The narrative, revealed by reporter Tony Ortega after Masterson’s sentencing on Friday, painted a picture of a quiet household in the period between the divorce and Joe’s banishment from Scientology in 2005 – during which the aspiring actor supposedly fulfilled the duties his father abandoned had.
“When my father left, my brother took on a sort of pseudo-father role for my little sister and me, even though he was only sixteen at the time.
“In difficult times, he provided not only money (and there was plenty of it), but also wisdom and guidance,” he wrote.
“He gave us an example of what it means to be loving, professional and respectful.” As a young man without a father, having my big brother as a guiding star was a godsend.
He takes me to baseball practice, picks me up from school, introduces me to movies, music, and art… While a little boy’s father can’t be replaced, I would say, in my experience, a great older brother comes close very close.
“Without my brother I wouldn’t be the person I am today.”

Masterson – seen here at his final hearing in May – was sentenced Thursday to 30 years to life in prison for raping two women in LA between 2001 and 2003
Describing herself as Masterson’s “only sister and youngest sibling,” Alana’s correspondence gave a very similar impression – one that father Joe vehemently questioned on Friday.
“My brother is facing a long prison sentence, so I wanted to give you an insight into the man who made me the person I am today,” it began.
“Danny is my best friend and helped raise me when my father left us.
“My mother was the only one who provided for all of us, and Danny took on that burden. “He helped us all financially, but also with the daily affairs of his younger siblings.”
She pointed to activities such as attending her “many” ballet performances and him taking her to sleepovers during her childhood in LA, and also claimed the actor helped her when she was attending school at the New York Film in the early 2000s Academy attended – during this time lived in his New York apartment.

Alana’s correspondence, describing herself as Masterson’s “only sister and youngest sibling,” gave a very similar impression – one in which her older half-brother (seen here with her in the early ’90s) was portrayed as her father figure, and one, which Papa Joe vehemently challenged on Friday
She also brought up Masterson’s relationship with his nine-year-old daughter with model Bijou Phillips, Fianna, who Alanna called “best friends.”
“He is the best father and husband I know,” Alanna insisted. “He is our family’s true North Star… I hope you take all of this information into consideration when sentencing.”
In Friday’s bombshell interview, Joe branded both children’s accounts – which came along with other fawning reports from other “That 70s Show” co-stars like Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis and others – as decidedly false.
“My son and daughter have very short memories of their father,” Reaiche, who now lives in Florida, told The Beast — before pointing out several inconsistencies that he claimed proved his point.
“Carol filed for divorce in Los Angeles in 1995. Jordan was born in 1986. He was 9, not 6. There’s the first wrong thing.”
Much more blatant, the father said, was Jordan and Alanna’s claims, which suggested he had abandoned his children – a feeling he said was falsely instilled in them by the Church of Scientology.
“They make it seem like I went away and abandoned them and that Danny was the hero,” Joe said of the time between the divorce and his designation as a “suppressive person” by the church in 2005.
Contrary to his children’s claims, he said that he was a constant presence in the lives of all four of his children, his half-son Christopher, during those ten years in which Masterson made his breakthrough with his role in the groundbreaking sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” included .
“They actually made money, and I gave them money.” Carol was their manager,” he said of the four siblings, all of whom were raised as Scientologists.

Jordan Masterson, Alanna Masterson, Masterson’s model wife Bijou Phillips and the convicted actor are seen at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Center’s 21st “Christmas Carol” in 2013 at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Center
“I paid for her summer school at this expensive Scientology school in Oregon, Delphi. Those were $5,000 each.’ said the Lebanese-Australian former athlete.
“I slept on couches to keep the kids comfortable,” he said, adding that he spent about $300,000 on them in the decade between his separation and excommunication.
He also cited that he was still in contact with Jordan, who was 19 at the time, shortly before he was banned from Scientology – after which he claimed all of his children had cut him off for good.
He claimed that in 2004 – nine years after the siblings said he had abandoned them – he actually helped his son with the church’s notoriously difficult “auditing,” which tests candidates with the goal of ridding the person of negative influences to free yourself from past events or behaviors.
“Jordan seems to forget that he did an auditorium at the Celebrity Center in 2004 and it went badly,” he told the newspaper hours after his half-son’s sentencing.
“Carol asked me to do an ethics cycle for my son.” So I did my thing, I fixed him up and he did fantastic. So I was in his life in 2004 when he was 18. Danny even complimented me on it.”
He further claimed: “I went to the house in Glendale with them for Christmas dinner that year, 2004. Chris’ girlfriend Laura Prepon was there. “I had dinner with them.”
