David Datro Fofana’s boyhood club have written to FIFA to try and STOP his £8million move to Chelsea

Chelsea newcomer David Datro Fofana’s boyhood club, Abidjan City, have written to FIFA to try to STOP his £8million move to Stamford Bridge – claiming his previous move to Molde was unlawful given his mother did not sign a declaration of consent for him
Chelsea have completed the signing of Ivory Coast’s David Datro Fofana from Norwegian champions Molde, despite a recent offer from the forward’s youth club to stop the deal.
The Blues have confirmed the 20-year-old, who has scored 24 goals and provided 10 assists in 65 games for Molde, has signed a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2029 with an option for a further year. Brazil midfielder Andrey Santos joined from Vasco da Gama for £18m.
But Fofana’s move has sparked outrage at his first professional club, Abidjan City, who have written to FIFA saying his original signing at Molde two years ago was illegal.

Abidjan City claim his move to Molde FK in 2021 was unlawful and illegitimate
The dispute stems from a dispute between Abidjan City and Fofana’s mother over whether she signed an agreement for the then 15-year-old to join the Ivorian club in 2016.
Club President Marco Taddei wrote: “We therefore invite you to intervene with the Chelsea club so that the player’s transfer is suspended until the dispute between Molde FK club and us is resolved.”
Chelsea insist the player is fully registered with them and declined to comment.

Chelsea’s previous transfer window
Fofana embodies Graham Potter’s plans to sign new young talent for the club in the January transfer window and is one of three new signings for the club, including 21-year-old Benoit Badiashile from Monaco and 18-year-old Andrey Santos.

But according to SportsMail, the Blues don’t appear to be finished as they look to strengthen their squad after a gruesome hand was inflicted on Graham Potter with a series of injuries taking over his side.
His injury list currently stands at around ten players, with Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic injured in Thursday night’s 1-0 defeat by Manchester City in the Premier League.

Chelsea had rejected another £112million bid for Argentinian Enzo Fernandez earlier this week
This list also includes key players Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Ben Chilwell, Eduoard Mendy, Reece James, Armando Broja, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Wesley Fofana.
The Londoners are also in talks to compete with their rivals Arsenal for longtime Gunners target Mykhaylo Mudryk, with Chelsea keen to get assurances from the Ukrainian that he wants to join the club before attending one for him Participate in auction with Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have also turned down a £112million offer for Benfica’s Enzo Fernandes as SportsMail understands the offer should be made in three installments of £37.3million over three years.
The Argentinian striker has not been included in Benfica’s squad to play Portimonense on Friday after club boss Roger Schmidt confirmed he had returned to his home country to celebrate the New Year.
