Details for the Pokémon GO Community Day in January 2023

Niantic has announced that the next Pokémon GO Community Day Classic will be held on Saturday, January 21st and will feature Larvitar, the rock-skin Pokémon, as its featured Pokémon.
Pokémon GO’s monthly Community Days put the spotlight on a featured Pokémon, with the Classic Community Day variant highlighting a Pokémon that players have been missing out on all year.
From a small Rockskin Pokémon to a gigantic Armor-type Pokémon, Larvitar goes through a whole evolution!

From 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Community Day, players can encounter Larvitar at an increased rate, receive tripled Catch XP, and activate three-hour Incense and Bait, as well as complete other challenges related to the featured Pokémon.
The timed field research task for players during this period involves capturing multiple Larvitar for these bonuses:
The event-exclusive optional Research Story ticket costs US$1 or local currency equivalent and gives players access to the special research task.
To accompany Community Day, players can obtain a Tyranitar, Larvitar’s final evolution, capable of the Fast Attack Smack Down if they evolve their Larvitar between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time.
While Shiny Larvitar was already available in Pokémon GO, players will have an increased chance of finding the Shiny variant of during the event period.
Players who take a photo in the app up to five times may be surprised to see that they have been photobombed by a Larvitar!
