Secret documents from when Biden was Vice President found in Washington office of HIS think tank: Ten files found a day BEFORE interim periods – but Justice Department investigation just released
- Files found at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement
- The think tank’s Washington DC office is a mile from the White House
- Folders with the secret documents are said to have been in a locked cupboard
- Merrick Garland has asked the US Attorney in Chicago to examine the 10 documents
The Justice Department has launched an investigation into classified documents belonging to Joe Biden’s vice presidency found in a Washington DC office for his think tank.
Attorney General Merrick Garland has asked the US Attorney in Chicago to review 10 files discovered by Biden’s personal attorneys at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement the day before the midterms in November, CBS News reported.
It’s unclear what the classified documents contain, but it follows last year’s raid on Donald Trump’s resort town of Mar-a-Lago and comes as Republicans begin their investigation into the Biden family.
The report said the documents were found just as Biden’s attorneys were packing up the office to leave.
The files were allegedly in a folder in a locked cabinet in a box with other unclassified documents.
The CBS report says Biden is unaware of the contents and there will now be an investigation into how the documents got to the office a mile from the White House.

The Presidential Records Act requires that all presidential and vice presidential documents be turned over to the National Archives at the end of their term for safekeeping.
After the discovery, the White House Office notified the National Archives, which then took possession of the documents on November 3.
US Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois John Lausch will now consider next steps, including whether further investigation or a special counsel is needed.
Lausch is one of two US attorneys nominated by Trump. The other, Delaware US Attorney David Weiss, is in charge of the Hunter Biden investigation.

Richard Sauber, special adviser to the president, told CBS, “The documents were not the subject of any previous inquiry or investigation by the Archives. Since that discovery, the President’s personal attorneys have worked with the archives and the Justice Department to ensure that all records of the Obama-Biden administration are properly in the archives.
In September, Biden was asked in 60 Minutes about the photo showing documents found in Mar-a-Lago during the FBI raid last August.
“How could that happen? How can someone be so irresponsible,’ said the President. “And it’s just — totally irresponsible.”
More than 300 classified documents have been seized from Trump’s Palm Beach estate.
Biden served in DC from 2017 until announcing he would run for president in 2019.
It was also the home of his cabinet officials and close associates.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken was the center’s executive director in 2018, while Steve Richetti, the top White House adviser, was executive director in 2019.
Biden is on leave from the University of Pennsylvania after being appointed Benjamin Franklin Presidential Practice Professor in 2017.
He was paid $917,643 to speak and run the center, CBS reported.
His granddaughter Naomi, late son Beau and daughter Ashley graduated there and his granddaughter Natalie is a student.
