Draymond Green admits relationship with Jordan Poole is ‘in the works’ after sucker punch

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green revealed he’s still working to mend his relationship with teammate Jordan Poole after the pair’s practice fell apart in October.

The footage was shot just before the start of the NBA season of Green Sucker beating Poole during a Warriors practice session.

The forward admitted the incident changed the dynamic between the duo but claimed it is slowly improving while they have maintained a sense of professionalism throughout the season.

“We go to work together every day,” he said in an interview with Taylor Rooks. “Our lockers are right next to each other, that has never changed. We ride the same buses together, we change trains together in the same changing room on the street – none of that has changed.

“Of course, has it changed our relationship? Absolutely. This is a work in progress. I will always be willing to continue this work because I was wrong.

“I see improvement, day by day, week by week, month by month I see improvement,” he added.

‘That’s all you can ask. I don’t expect him to come out and say, ‘Man, I want to hang out with you off the field.’ I don’t expect that. I’m not an idiot.

‘[…] It’s kind of what I expected, but it’s still a work in progress because it’s very important to the composition of our team and the success of our team. So I get on with the work.’

Green also admitted to repeatedly viewing the clip, originally obtained by TMZ, after it was released, claiming it was like he was “going through hell.”

“Once that’s released, I experience so many emotions,” Green said. “Well, I’m upset. How the hell is this going to be published? Go through hell because you are only at the sole discretion of public opinion.’

However, he claimed the three-second clip doesn’t tell the whole story and was released to present it in a certain light, before insisting it will one day reveal the full context of the incident.

“As someone involved in the incident, watching the video made me forget everything that happened,” he said.

“Because you’re watching a video with no sound in the video, you see a three-second clip of me walking towards her and I’m swinging. That’s what you see. This video was posted to represent me exactly as it was.

“Does that mean I wasn’t wrong in what I did? No, that doesn’t mean that. 100 percent was the wrong response. But there is a whole story in everything. I don’t care to share my story. One day I will…’

When Rooks asked for clarification on whether Green believed the release was calculated, he replied “100 percent,” reasoning that no other video of a Warriors workout had been leaked.

The short clip featured an altercation between Green and his teammate Poole, with Green initially attempting to confront Poole.

In response, Poole pushed Green away before the latter then met with a brutal goof punch that left Poole on the ground while staff and players waded in to calm the situation.

The Warriors announced shortly thereafter that Green would not be suspended and any punishment would be handled internally.

However, the team is said to be taking all legal steps to find out how the shocking footage got to the public.

Back in October, after the clip was released, Green decided to speak to the media — he called the leak “cops ***” — while also apologizing to his teammate.

He also announced his decision to retire from the Golden State for a few days while the frenzy subsided, but he returned to the Warriors for their last preseason game on Oct. 14 when he and Poole put their fight behind them .
