Drew Barrymore’s accused stalker now has a warrant out for his arrest after he failed to show up to have a GPS monitor fitted

An arrest warrant has been issued for Chad Michael Busto, the man accused of stalking Drew Barrymore, after he appeared to fail to attach a GPS monitor to his person.
A Southampton Town Justice Court judge issued an arrest warrant for 43-year-old Busto after he failed to show up for the GPS monitor fitting, a court clerk said TMZ Tuesday.
The GPS was conditional after Busto was taken into custody in late August after showing up uninvited at Barrymore’s home in Long Island, New York, days after she was dragged off a stage in New York City when he was during had turned up at her place during a speech.
Busto was taken into custody Aug. 23 after officers said he was seen combing her Hamptons neighborhood in search of the $6 million home where she lives there, the outlet said.
Barrymore, 48, was not at the residence at the time Busto was arrested there, sources told the outlet.

On Aug. 21, two days before the arrest, Busto was charged on the stage where Barrymore was during an interview with Reneé Rapp at Y 92nd Street in New York City, the outlet reported.
At the event, so the New York PostBusto yelled at Barrymore, ‘You know who I am!’ I’ve got to see you sometime while you’re in New York!’
Busto was kept off the stage by a security guard on the premises while Rapp ushered Barrymore off the stage.
Police sources told the newspaper that Busto had “a long criminal record” after the incident.
According to multiple police reports reviewed by the newspaper, Busto’s criminal record dates back to June 1999 and as recently as January 2022.
Crimes listed on his record, which span multiple states, included molestation, trespassing, resisting arrest, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct and theft.
In an Aug. 25 hearing at Southampton Town Justice Court, Judge Barbara Wilson released Busto – who was charged with fourth-degree stalking in the incident at her home – on condition that he be fitted with a GPS tracker.
At the hearing, Busto told the court he was bankrupt and wanted to live in emergency shelter. He said he was due to appear in a federal court hearing in Texas on Sept. 3.

Busto told DailyMail.com that he met Barrymore about ten years ago and was hoping for a romance with her.
A source close to Barrymore said the actress was not troubled by the troubling series of events.
“Drew feels good, feels safe, and even at that moment things went so fast that she was fine and not stressing,” the source said. “She moved on from the incident knowing people were there to protect her.”
The source continued, “The only thing she didn’t want was for the incident to become the event to be remembered for the night, so once it was over she forgot about it and went on talking to Renee and doing it Undo it.” Refocus on the conversation, this was important to Drew.
“She’s not going to change the way she runs her life and how she protects herself, all of these things are and have been imposed on her throughout her life and she doesn’t want anyone to be concerned about her well-being.”
