Eddie Hearn confirms talks are underway for Benn and Eubank Jr. to fight in Abu Dhabi on June 3

Eddie Hearn confirms talks are underway for Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. to FINALLY fight in Abu Dhabi on June 3 – and would prefer it to a fight with Kell Brook or Manny Pacquiao – but admits it’s difficult since “things have become personal”.

Eddie Hearn has confirmed negotiations are underway for a grudge match between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr in Abu Dhabi on June 3.

Benn and Eubank were supposed to face each other in October last year but the fight was called off after Nigel Benn’s son failed his drugs test.

Sportsmail revealed Benn had tested positive for a testosterone-boosting substance called clomiphene at the O2 before the fight.

It was later revealed that the welterweight star also failed a separate test for the same substance earlier in the year.

As a result, Hearn was forced to pull the plug on Benn’s fight with Eubank – much to the disappointment of fans.

However, Hearn has now confirmed that negotiations have resumed after Benn was acquitted of intentional doping by the WBC.

Hearn went on to admit that he would be more interested in arranging a fight with Eubank than with Kell Brook or Manny Pacquiao.

Hearn told Sportsmail: “I’ve been asking about it all night. Apparently it’s imminent, but it’s not imminent. Conversations are taking place.

“It’s the fight I want to fight in Abu Dhabi on June 3, but it’s definitely not over yet. It’s gotten a bit personal between the two now.

Benn is currently still in a UK anti-doping investigation. Therefore, he cannot compete on these shores as he still faces a two-year ban.

But the 26-year-old welterweight star is free to box on foreign soil after the WBC acquitted him of intentional doping.

The WBC decided to acquit Benn after concluding his positive tests were likely caused by high egg consumption.

Hearn is keen on getting Benn back in the ring and admits he’d rather see the 26-year-old against Eubank than Brook or Pacquiao – both of whom have expressed interest.

However, Hearn has admitted that arranging a fight between Benn and Eubank might be difficult given their relationship.

Hearn told Sportsmail: “These two are sending each other private profanity every day at the moment and it makes for a great promotion.

“Obviously a part of me wants to see this fight after it flunked last time. We’ve had a few offers for Conor Benn to fight internationally but for me I’d prefer Chris Eubank Jr. but we’ll have to see what develops over the next few days.

“I don’t think it will take long. He’s training, he’s ready to fight and hopefully within the next week we’ll have it ready.
