Australian supermodel Elle MacPherson has detailed her daily health and fitness routine, which includes regular meditation, cold water immersion, sessions in her infrared sauna, and tea ceremonies.

Speaking to Body and Soul, the 58-year-old supermodel and mom revealed the health and wellness habits that keep her body in tip-top shape.

Her program includes yoga in the sun, supplements, a four-minute workout, “Breathwork and Sound Healing,” and a cup of tea to keep her energy up in the afternoon.

The 58-year-old regularly visits her infrared sauna and takes multiple dips in cold water to'reset' herself.

The 58-year-old said she sticks to an organic, plant-based diet and has regular “cold dives” and sauna sessions throughout the day to “reset”.

Elle said the first thing she does when she wakes up is “smile,” as she starts her day as soon as the sun comes up and hydrates herself with a glass of filtered lime-infused water.

“I will then go outside and put my feet on the ground. I do some yoga in the morning sun or Dr. Zach’s four-minute workout to stimulate nitric oxide,” she said.

“Sometimes I’ll do a cold bath afterwards, followed by a matcha in the sun before getting ready for my day.”

Elle also meditates for 25 minutes each morning and does “breathing exercises” to take care of her “mind, body and spirit.”

The mother of two always likes to be outdoors and in nature – hiking, cycling, swimming or “just sitting in the fresh air and the sun”.

She said she doesn’t have a set schedule when it comes to exercise, preferring to “go with the flow” and swears by regular sessions in her infrared sauna, as well as a cold soak to “reset.”

A “huge believer in energy healing,” Elle revealed that she regularly books appointments for acupuncture, chiropractic, breathwork and sound healing, as well as Russian banyas, an ancient tradition of steam bathing using a wood-fired stove that burns dry branches of trees or herbs called veniks.

RECIPE: Elle Macpherson’s Favorite Miso Mushroom Soup

ingredients

  • 500 g shiitake mushrooms
  • 4 cloves of garlic or 4 spring onions
  • 1 tablespoon freshly chopped rosemary
  • 1 tbsp traditional miso paste

  • 1 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 2 cups distilled water
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan pink salt

method

  1. Wash the shiitake mushrooms, squeeze and cut into medium-thin slices.
  2. Place in a medium saucepan with the minced garlic or diced spring onions.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients, bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes.

Elle adheres to a plant-based diet, preferring home-cooked meals made “with love,” and buys all of her groceries locally grown and organic, handpicked at the local farmers’ market.

One of her favorite weeknight meals is miso mushroom soup with Japanese sweet potato.
