The half-brother of music legend Elton John brought a ceremonial trident to court today before being fined for possessing magic mushrooms.
Geoff Dwight, 56, of Borthyn, Ruthin, North Wales, pleaded guilty to possession of the Class A drugs at his home in December 2021.
When he appeared before Llandudno Magistrates’ Court he was fined £120 and ordered to pay £119 in costs.
On arrival, he carried a trident on his shoulder in case he needed to swear an oath – but security guards refused to let him inside the building.
As he left the court, he explained that the “religious” Pol represented Sheba and Britannia.
He said: “Brexit has happened, so we’re sailing the high seas of the world again. If I had to swear an oath, I would have sworn by it.”

Prosecutor Justin Espie said the Class A personal-use drug was found during a search.
Defense attorney Nia Dawson said: “The most worrying thing is the time it is taking for the matter to get to court, 13 months, that is unacceptable.
“A small amount of mushrooms were found on his premises. He had forgotten they were there. You are against the law.’
Dwight was self-employed and was making £6,000 a year. But last year his income was reduced to zero after police confiscated his phone and computer.

Geoff Dwight had little contact with his famous half-brother and lived an ‘alternative’ lifestyle in the picturesque valley of Clwyd, hand-making yurts and harps and organizing music festivals.
In 2021 he was fined £200 for breaking coronavirus rules by going to an illegal “rave” with more than 200 revelers in the Welsh countryside.
Dwight said at the hearing that the “Blackpearl” event near Llandrillo on August 29, 2021 was a private spiritual gathering that he had attended for many years.
Dwight and his partner Karen Webb, 58, also from Ruthin, were originally charged with helping organize an illegal music event in breach of coronavirus restrictions but admitted the lesser offense of attending a gathering.
Dwight has previously criticized his father Stanley for being portrayed as cold and unsupportive in the Elton John biopic Rocketman.
In the film, Stanley asks if a young Sir Elton is good enough for a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music and scolds him for not practicing his piano scales.

But Dwight, one of Stanley’s four younger sons from a second marriage, lashed out at the portrayal of Stanley, saying, “That’s not the father I remember.”
Dwight claimed Elton just “chooses to believe what he wants to believe” and that he appears to have suffered “massive memory loss.”
He said: “Dad had a big heart and loved us all equally. He was incredibly proud of Elton and everything he has achieved.
He added: “This cold is a million miles from what Dad was like.
“He was the product of a time when men weren’t walking around, hugging and showing their feelings every minute of every day, but he had a lot of love inside for all of us.
“As a kid, I remember Dad laughing and joking around. When one of us got upset, he would do something stupid like pretend to be a chimp, or start tickling us.”
The creators of Rocketman called the film a “fantasy musical”. Stanley died in 1991.
Sir Elton was born Reginald Dwight and took his new name in 1972.
