Emmerdale fans slam ‘stupid story’ as Charles wrongly arrested for running over Alex

Emmerdale fans slammed Friday’s “stupid” episode as Charles Anderson was wrongly arrested for the hit and run that put Alex’s life at stake.
Viewers know that Billy Fletcher was responsible for the shocking accident that happened after Alex was caught stealing drugs from a pharmacy truck.
But Billy managed to slip under the detectives’ radar, while Charles’ daughter Naomi Walters accidentally tricked her into pointing the finger at him instead.
Angry viewers uncovered loopholes in the plot after the vicar (Kevin Mathurin) was arrested “without evidence” and claimed “the Hotten Police Station needs new detectives.”
During the show, the police spoke to Naomi (Karene Peter), who told the duo that the father “didn’t approve” of her relationship with Alex.

Lifeless: Viewers know that Billy Fletcher was responsible for the shocking accident that happened after Alex was caught stealing drugs from a pharmacy truck
“My dad thinks he stole some medicine from a pharmacy truck and he didn’t like the fact that me and Alex were a couple at first,” she explained.
“Which I understand because he’s been in prison and my dad is a bit protective.”
“So your father knows Mr. Moore quite well?” asked the police.
Detectives then went to speak to Charles and subsequently found a suspicious dent in the hood of his car.
Charles denied being involved in the hit-and-run but admitted he “attacked” Alex after witnessing the theft, which resulted in damage to his car.
The vicar went to the police station for a series of optional questions but was unable to provide an alibi for his whereabouts at the time of the hit-and-run.
“We will know more once the vehicle impact assessment has taken place… but we will arrest you on suspicion of dangerous driving,” the officer said.
“I would start praying that Mr. Moore pulls through,” another official warned.

Thoughts: Angry viewers exposed plot loopholes after the vicar (Kevin Mathurin) was arrested ‘without evidence’ and claimed ‘the Hotten Police Station needs new detectives’.
Sharing his thoughts on Twitter, one fan wrote: “How can they arrest him with no evidence.. ‘Just because his car is dented’ there are a lot of cars driving around with dents. There’s no way he would be arrested there.”
“Here we go again with the cops who always arrest the wrong person!” another added.
A third person shared: “Just watched Emmerdale lol why are these cops in tv series all jerks why don’t they seek advice from the real police when writing stories?”
“Caught the end of tonight’s episode of #Emmerdale and I’m convinced they need some new detectives at Hotten Police Station…” another viewer posted.
During Thursday’s episode, multiple flash forwards saw a bloodied Alex (Liam Boyle) lying in the street injured after being mowed down in a hit and run.
As the show developed, we saw the events leading up to the harrowing scenes. The drama began when Alex stole drugs from a pharmacy truck.
But the thief was spotted by Charles, who found the loot in the back of his car and chased Alex down the street, holding him down.
Alex told him “I’m in big debt, I just have to get myself out of this mess” before hitting Charles and throwing the vicar’s phone in the water.
Charles later informed the police and was frustrated by Naomi’s reaction to what he had told her about Alex.
Then he grabbed his keys and headed out into the fresh air.
At the side of the road, Alex was on the phone with Clare, but when he hung up and stepped into the street, he was hit by a passing car.

As Alex lay lifeless on the floor, Billy approached him before screaming in frustration at what he had done.
He quickly returned from the scene, leaving Alex gasping in the street.
The show ended with Billy returning to the scene of the crime only to find the area had been swamped by police.
After confessing to Dawn, she told him to keep quiet, saying they only had a problem if Alex was alive as he could tell officers that Billy was behind the crash.
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 19:30 on ITV1 and ITVX.
