Two women have died in a horrific multi-car crash that left three people injured, including a passenger who suffered life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened around 5.20pm on Tuesday near the intersection of Templeton Road and Blyth Road in Everard Central, 120 kilometers northwest of Adelaide.

Emergency crews were called to the scene following the fatal accident after a Honda and a van collided at the intersection.

A 54-year-old woman and an 86-year-old passenger from Snowtown, around 151 kilometers north of Adelaide, died at the scene of the accident.

An 84-year-old man who was in the back seat of the Honda was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition.

The two occupants of the van, the 28-year-old driver and his 26-year-old passenger, also suffered injuries in the collision.

The couple were also flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, with the woman suffering serious injuries.

Templeton Road remained closed overnight after authorities, including major accident scene investigators, began investigating the cause of the accident.

The number of women who died marks the 95th and 96th fatalities on South Australia’s roads this year.

There were 59 lives around the same time in 2022.
