Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back in contention for Saturday’s tough Premier League game against champions Manchester City.

The England international missed Boxing Day’s defeat by Wolves due to a lack of match fitness after struggling with a series of injury problems this season.

At his pre-match press conference, manager Frank Lampard said: “He’s in the squad.”

Asked if he might be ready, Lampard added: “We’ll see.”

Calvert-Lewin has only played six games this season and Everton, just a point above the last three, have struggled in front of goal without him.

Lampard’s side have scored just 12 goals in their 16 Premier League games.

Lampard said: “We lost Richarlison and didn’t have Dominic apart from a couple of games. If you lose that firepower, it might not be easy to replace in terms of sheer objectives and performance.

“Having Dominic back in the team is a great thing for us because players who can make the difference at the top end of the pitch mean points. As simple as that.’
