EXCLUSIVE: Here we go! Nathan Cleary is seen cheering on his rumored love Mary Fowler as the Matildas star plays in Perth

  • The duo was spotted together twice after the FIFA Women’s World Cup
  • Fans have called them the sport’s greatest power couple
  • Cleary flew to Perth instead of watching his teammates in Melbourne

Nathan Cleary traveled 4,000km across the country to support Mary Fowler in Perth on Sunday – a big sign that the NRL grand final hero is dating the Matildas star.

Fowler was in Western Australia to play a series of Olympic qualifiers for the Matildas, with Cleary photographed on the ground after driving across the country to watch from the stands.

Cleary and Fowler hit it off after they were spotted together twice after Matildas reached the last four of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Penrith residents were the first to spot the 25-year-old NRL sensation taking a leisurely stroll along the scenic Nepean River with the 20-year-old Matildas striker.

They were later spotted eating ice cream together following a promotional event for Adidas, a brand they both support.

Fans of both codes declared they were Australian sport’s newest power couple and Cleary’s cross-country competition to watch Fowler play will send that speculation soaring.

Cleary missed the Australian Kangaroos Pacific Championships series due to a knee injury sustained in the NRL Grand Final while performing heroics for the Penrith Panthers in their victory over the Brisbane Broncos.

While his Kangaroos teammates were battling New Zealand at AAMI Park in Melbourne, Cleary was on the other side of the country supporting the Australian women’s team in Perth.

The Matildas are in Australia to play a series of Olympic qualifiers and beat the Philippines 8-0 at Optus Stadium.

Almost 60,000 people came to watch the game, including Cleary, who was photographed outside the stadium with excited fans before kick-off.

Matildas fan Annie Lewin posted the picture of Cleary with the caption: “Silly for the Tillies.”

A friend quickly noticed the Fowler link and replied, “Hmmm, what was Nathan doing?”

Cleary and Fowler have not commented on the speculation that they are dating

However, Cleary's recent trip across the country to watch her play has caused quite a stir

Cleary and Fowler have not commented on speculation that they are dating – but Cleary’s recent trip across the country to see her play speaks volumes

Both sides remained silent about the possible blossoming romance.

However, Cleary, who split from his former partner Teah Foot last year, hinted at the prospect of a relationship during the opening of the NRL finals.

“It’s like, it’s a little annoying not having a private life, but I like not to talk about it too much and keep everything I can private,” he said.

“It’s moving pretty quickly with social media, but I’ll try to keep my private life if I can.”

Cleary was asked directly on The Kyle and Jackie O Show if he was romantically involved with Fowler after the grand finale, but refused to comment.

“No, no, we won’t get involved in that,” he said.

However, his half partner Jarome Luai was happy to add fuel to the flames when intern Pete asked which teammate was most likely to date a Matilda.

“Nathan Cleary, shh,” he said.

“He was a little shy, that’s all.”

“I tried to get some information out of him.

“I want to see my brother happy, he’s looking for some love.”

“Yeah, but we’ll see how they do.”
