Fans have mocked Piers Morgan for claiming France’s side were “deliberately poisoned” ahead of the World Cup final.

Following France’s 2-0 defeat, Morgan tweeted: “It wasn’t a virus, the French team was clearly poisoned on purpose” in response to Didier Deschamps’ poor performance.

Fans on social media have branded the 57-year-old an “embarrassing” and linked his apparent desire for Lionel Messi not to win the World Cup to his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo.
