Fashionistas will go WILD over $350 red wellies that will make you look like a cartoon character

Fashionistas have been in an uproar over a bizarre $350 pair of red wellies inspired by cartoon character Astro Boy.

Brooklyn-based artist collective MSCHF’s latest shoe design, officially released on February 16, has sent the internet into a frenzy – but opinions are divided.

Some have said they can’t wait to get their hands on a pair, claiming “if you can’t rock them, it’s because you have ugly taste, no style and no panache.”

But others have said buyers need to let it go, comparing the goofy design to that Characters like Pac-Man and Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Although it hasn’t even been released yet, the resale price for the Big Red Boot has already jumped to over $1,200 on sites like StockX.

Founded in 2016, MSCHF has earned a reputation for creating both digital and physical designs that mock and distort everyday concepts.

The brand’s crazy creations in the past have included an eau de cologne scented with WD-40, “Eat The Rich Popsicles” in the form of iconic Plurocrats and “Jesus Shoes” with holy water from the Jordan River in the sole.

His latest meme-worthy creation, the Big Red Boot, is made from a TPU rubber shell and EVA foam.

MSCHF itself has branded the shoes as “cartoon boots for a cool 3D world” and the press release states, “If you kick anyone in these boots, they go BOING!”

It continues: “You never design shoes to be shaped like feet. Big Red Boots are NOT REALLY shaped like feet, but they are EXTREMELY shaped like boots.’

The Big Red Boot has caused quite a stir online and social media – and opinions are very divided.

In one camp there were dozens of fashion-forward individuals who couldn’t wait to get their hands on a pair.

One Twitter user wrote: “The big red boots are cute, if you can’t rock them it’s because you have ugly taste, no style and no pizzazz.”
