Footy legend Robert DiPierdomenico reveals his VERY rude swimming habit just after warning all men over a worrying health battle

  • Hawks Great opened up about his cheeky guilt over the summer
  • DiPierdomenico underwent surgery last April for a declining health condition
  • Said the issue hurt him more than any serious injury during his football days

Legendary Aussie Rules star and TV presenter Robert DiPierdomenico has revealed his cheeky way of killing time during the summer months: he cools off by swimming naked on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.

The 64-year-old, who won five premierships with Hawthorn in a stellar career from 1975 to 1991, opened up the news by listing his favorite ways to spend the holiday season.

After declaring his love of boating, bodysurfing and sunbathing on the scenic stretch of coast south-east of Melbourne, the legend known as “Dipper” was asked what his guilty pleasure was.

“I eat a Sorrento vanilla wedge every day, take off my shorts and swim naked when I’m alone in the water,” he told The Age.

The Brownlow Medal winner has been enjoying this summer to the fullest after overcoming a medical condition that required surgery in April.

Last month, DiPierdomenico revealed he was suffering from a bladder condition that caused him to urinate 30 to 40 times a day.

His urinary retention problem worsened as he tried to pull it through and he said it was more painful than any injury he’d suffered on the pitch during his career – quite a statement considering he was in the grand final Played through in 1989 with broken ribs and a punctured lung.

“The worst thing is when you’re running around the pharmacy looking for diapers and trying to hide them,” he told the Herald Sun.

“Luckily it wasn’t cancer or my actual prostate, but a lot of my buddies were worried about me because of my so-called leakage.

“I thought stupid men like me just take the pain, we all think we’re invincible.

“A lung injury could have been my last game, but that was worse than any foot injury.

“The pain got so bad that I went to an emergency room and the doctors’ persistence got me well again quickly.”

The operation brought relief to the great Hawks, who will now use the experience to warn other men to get checked for similar problems.
