Former New York Yankees flop Joey Gallo has signed a one-year, $11 million deal with the Minnesota Twins.

Once-award-winning outfielder Joey Gallo has signed an $11 million, one-year contract with the Minnesota Twins in a bid to revitalize his career.

The formerly highly-rated slugger was seen as a big acquisition by the 2021 Yankees before he began struggling astronomically in New York.

Gallo only hit for .159/.291/.368 with 25 homers and 46 RBIs in 140 games while wearing a Yankees uniform.

After being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the 2022 deadline, his struggles continued as he hit just .162/.277/.393 with seven homers in 44 games for the West Coast team.

His last stat line in 2022 was .160/.280/.357 with 19 home runs with 163 strikeouts in 350 at-bats.

Gallo has never been a player known for batting high, having averaged .199/.325/.469 over the course of his eight-year big league career.

However, he always proved to be one of the most dangerous power hitters in the game, often ending the season with 30-40+ homers.

He was traded to the LA Dodgers after struggling to come up with solid numbers in New York

He also displayed a keen eye on the plate to go along with much better than expected fielding and baserunning skills for a player who weighs a gargantuan 6-foot-5, 250 pounds.

The Twins finished third in the AL Central season after finishing with a 78-48 record, and unless Gallo can return to his peak performance numbers, the signing likely won’t do much to move the needle for Minnesota.

It seems Minnesota will be banking heavily on this return to form as the $11 million represents the most Gallo will have earned in a single season.
