Former NFL player Vontae Davis was found asleep by police officers on the side of a freeway after a horrific car accident.

Davis was arrested in Florida for driving under the influence and causing an accident that resulted in a pedestrian being taken to the hospital.

Images received from TMZ shows Davis asleep with his arms under his head, dressed in a mint green ensemble, while the wreckage of both cars lies nearby.

Witnesses also told TMZ that Davis was asleep — even as first responders moved around him — until police put him in the back seat of a police car.

Even then, Davis seemed to be struggling to stay awake — with footage showing him asleep in his seat.

This was announced by a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol TMZ that first responders arrived at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on State Road 821 at approximately 7:51 a.m. Saturday, February 4.

When police interacted with Davis, as revealed by TMZ, they said, “Her eyes are bloodshot. Your language is slurred. You can hardly stay awake. In order? You nearly killed someone.”

Officers asked Davis if he had consumed alcohol, to which he replied, “Yes, I had two drinks. Two mixed drinks.”

Police then required Davis to take a standard on-site sobriety test, but the 2009 first-round draft pick declined.

There was significant damage to the front and rear of Davis’ black Tesla, while one pickup truck – a Toyota – sustained damage to the rear.

In their report on the incident, police said the 34-year-old lost control of his vehicle and caused the accident.

Authorities also reported that the collision was so severe that the pickup truck struck a nearby pedestrian.

The pedestrian was immediately taken to the hospital with multiple injuries. The person’s identity was not released by local law enforcement immediately after the incident.
