Fortnite Shockwave Hammer Disabled: Removed infinite bounce glitch

Fortnite’s polarizing shockwave hammer has been temporarily disabled due to a specific bug that allows players to bounce indefinitely.
Added in Chapter 4, the Shockwave Hammer was a popular, if annoying, addition to Fortnite. Players dealt large amounts of damage to anyone caught in the blast, and could slam the weapon into the ground to damage nearby enemies, and also use jumps to get around.
Not everyone is a fan of the weapon, many find it overwhelming. It’s true that the damage dealt is great, and with enough precision, players can obliterate each other in a matter of seconds. But a major issue with the Shockwave Hammer was a certain bug that allowed players to jump infinitely.
We will be going through a brief downtime starting at 4:00AM ET to deploy a patch that fixes several issues, including the Shockwave Hammer ricocheting more often than intended. The downtime is expected to last about an hour. pic.twitter.com/6aF8BWImky

The weapon was vaulted on January 9th and is expected to return later today with adjustments. Epic Games didn’t confirm if the bug was the primary reason for the Shockwave Hammer jumping, merely citing an “issue” that led to the decision.
“Our intention is to re-enable the Shockwave Hammer in the next game update when this issue is resolved,” announced Epic Games.
Fortnite received downtime at 4am ET to provide a patcha that addresses several issues, including players bouncing the Shockwave Hammer “more often than intended.”
Hopefully in future games players will have fewer issues when going up against a Shockwave Hammer. Or at least find the playing field smoother without the glitch getting in the way.
