Four SEGA Genesis games added to the Nintendo Switch Online December lineup

The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack has expanded its offering, adding four more classic SEGA Genesis titles.

Nintendo’s recent additions will be a welcome sight for retro fans as four more titles have been added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack offerings. The new titles available starting today are:

These four titles join titles like Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Street Fighter 2, ToeJam & Earl and many more.

Golden Ax II is a side scrolling beat ’em up developed and published by SEGA. It made its debut on the SEGA Genesis console in 1991 as a sequel to the popular title Golden Axe. The game later appeared on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 via Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection and as an iOS app.

Alien Storm is a beat ’em up shooter first released by SEGA in 1990 as an arcade game. It was later ported to SEGA Genesis. Like Golden Ax II, the game was part of Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It shares similar gameplay and art style to Golden Axe.

Columns is a matching puzzle game first released in 1990 and then ported to SEGA Genesis. The game is a tile-matching game that came about in the wake of Tetris’ popularity.

Virtua Fighter 2 is perhaps the biggest title to be added to the lineup. Developed by SEGA, this fighting game was first released in 1994 and is the second game in the Virtua Fighter series. Back then, it was critically acclaimed for its graphics and gameplay as it was one of the first games to use motion capture technology.

The catalog of available SEGA Genesis games is only available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Players also get access to a selection of Nintendo 64 classics and free DLC for select Nintendo Switch games.
