Friends and family wore their brightest colors as they gathered to bid farewell to legendary Queensland fashion designer Daniel Lightfoot following his unexpected death on Christmas Day.

More than 200 mourners attended Victory Church in Brisbane on Thursday for the funeral of the 58-year-old man.

With the dress code being ‘all but black’, loved ones entered the church to watch a slideshow of some of Mr Lightfoot’s most memorable designs to the tune of Madonna’s famous song ‘Vogue’.

His sudden death rocked the fashion industry, and his ex-wife Suzie Lightfoot and their daughter Paris remembered their “fashion angel.”

His daughter Paris remembered her father at his funeral on Thursday and shared how much they share a passion for life and a good steak.

She said Mr Lightfoot was “the funniest, most hilarious” and “awesome” father a girl could ask for.

“My dad was my biggest fan,” Paris said.

“He totally spoiled me, not many girls can say their dad bought them a pony but mine did without telling mum.”

“He was certainly the only father to bring a bottle of French champagne to an AFL game.”

“He turned a simple piece of fabric into something truly magical and made the women he dressed shine like diamonds.

“He will always be fondly remembered for his wicked sense of humor and sharp wit, his appreciation for French champagne, diamonds and bling, yellow roses, his love of a good party, expensive cars and dancing like everyone is watching ( because they were!) .

“You are now safe and can once again be the man you want to be in heaven by dressing all of these beautiful angels in your creations.”
