Gemma Atkinson has blasted trolls for branding her ‘gay’ before the birth of her second child

She is preparing to welcome her second child, a son, with Strictly’s Gorka Marquez.

And Gemma Atkinson has slammed online trolls for branding her a “tubby” and saying she “let herself go” while pregnant.

Speaking to The Sun, the former Hollyoaks actress, 38, who is already mother to three-year-old daughter Mia, said she shrugged off the comments despite her weight gain and “massive boobs”.

“I grow and create life. My son. And for this blessing, I take all of that and more, including the p***ks on Twitter.

“It’s always boys who [post offensive comments] and I always think, ‘Would you say that to your mother if you were pregnant?’.

Continue to say: “Ultimately, you’re going to get it whether you have a bigger bump or a smaller bump [negative comments] because there will always be someone who is not satisfied with the way you look. It blows my mind that they care so much about someone else’s body.

Gemma and the Strictly Come Dancing pro, 32, both took to Instagram in January to announce they are expecting a baby boy, who is due later this year.

She shared a series of stunning black and white photographs showing off her blossoming baby bump as she confirmed her happy news.

Suddenly Gorka joined her, flashing a big smile, while in another picture her daughter Mia lay sweetly on her stomach.

In a caption, Gemma said her daughter Mia, three, was “thrilled” by the news and joked that her son is called “Barbie” when it’s up to her daughter.

She wrote: “It’s impossible to hide my stomach any longer. I’m officially “popped”. Our little boy will join our family later this year.

“We feel so incredibly blessed and grateful to be on this journey again. Mia is absolutely thrilled!

“Although we may have to do some naming negotiations as so far she’s adamant his name will be Barbie.”

Appearing on Steph’s Packed Lunches last month, Gemma said her second pregnancy had been more difficult than her first because she had no symptoms the first time.

She said: “With Mia, I had no symptoms…immediately within two to three weeks, my breasts were getting sore, I was nauseous. I said to Gorka, I have to take a test…”

When asked if they’d picked a name, she added, “I’d like a Spanish element because they’re half Spanish. But I said to Gorka we have to be careful because they will have an accent like mine.

“Growing up in Manchester, we can’t say ‘okay Pedro’ … It has to be something that sounds good in Mancunian.”

Gemma and Gorka got engaged in February 2021, four years after they met on Strictly Come Dancing. They welcomed their first child Mia on July 4, 2019.
