Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett basks in a standing ovation as the Bulldogs defeat TCU 65-7

“I’ll remember it for the rest of my life”: Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett basks in a standing ovation as the Bulldogs defeated TCU 65-7 in a fitting end to the native stud’s final college game
Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett took center stage in his final collegiate appearance, leading the Dawgs to their second straight national championship.
The Bulldogs became the first repeat champions since Alabama went back-to-back a decade ago.
Bennett was spectacular in Georgia’s 65-7 win over TCU in Monday night’s college football playoff final. He threw for 304 yards and 4 touchdowns while adding two more on the ground.

It was a fitting ending to Bennett’s college career, who started out as a walk-on before briefly departing and returning to give Georgia its final two national titles.
With 1:25 still in the fourth quarter, coach Kirby Smart called a timeout in the middle of an offensive drive to allow Bennett to exit to a heroic ovation in the final game of his shaky college career.
Thinking about that moment was surreal for the 25-year-old. “It was something special that I will remember for the rest of my life,” Bennett said.

“Champions of the whole damn world, man,” he said.
Prior to Bennett’s back-to-back success, the Dawgs had not conquered college football since 1980.
Smart has had a special relationship with Bennett since the 25-year-old returned to Athens in 2019 after a stint at the Mississippi Community School, Jones College.

When asked what was said during the couple’s warm embrace, Bennett said, “He just told me he loves me and just the journey we’ve been through together.
“I just see everyone who was here when I got here and they’re still here and we’re back to back, I just don’t know.”
Bennet finished 29-3 as a starter at Georgia, joining Matt Leinart and AJ McCarron as the only quarterbacks to win their teams in the 21st century.
