Gisele Bundchen breaks her silence on ex-husband Tom Brady’s retirement from the NFL

Gisele Bundchen has finally broken her silence on her ex-husband’s retirement from the NFL, wishing him only “wonderful things” under Brady’s retirement video on social media.

Hours after the seven-time Super Bowl champion, 45, announced he was “finally” ending his 22-year NFL career, the Brazilian supermodel shared a comment on his Instagram post.

“Wishing you only wonderful things in this new chapter of your life,” Bundchen wrote, along with a prayer hands emoji.

Brady and Bundchen now share two children together, son Benjamin, 13, and Vivian, 12, after finalizing their divorce in October. The former power couple were married for 13 years, from 2009 until last year. Over the winter holidays, the mother-of-two was spotted in Costa Rica warming up with her jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente.

The 45-year-old quarterback is also father to 15-year-old son Jack, whom he shares with former girlfriend and actress Bridget Moynahan.

In October, the seven-time Super Bowl winner, who announced his first retirement from American football in February 2022 but reversed his decision the following month, said ending his marriage to Bummel was “painful and difficult.”

“However, we wish each other nothing but the best as we pursue the new chapters in our lives that have yet to be written,” he added. “And we kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate the days and weeks to come.”

Bundchen, 42, said they finalized the divorce “amicably.”

“My priority was and is our children, whom I love with all my heart. We will continue to raise together to give them the love, care and attention they so much deserve,” she said on Instagram.

“The decision to end a marriage is never easy, but we have grown apart and while it’s obviously difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and always wish Tom the best .”

Bundchen had expressed concerns about Brady’s health in the NFL’s often violent workplace, admitting in an Elle magazine story that she had had those discussions with her husband.

“I have my concerns,” Bundchen said in the September article. “This is a very violent sport and I have my kids and I want it to be more present.”

Brady spent 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, winning six Super Bowls before moving to Tampa Bay in 2020 and leading the Bucs to a championship in his first season with the team.

But the future Hall of Famer’s game hasn’t lived up to its usual high standards this season, the frustration manifesting itself in explosive altercations on the sidelines and the tossing of his helmet and a tablet.

Brady’s retirement announcement follows the loss of the Buccaneers’ wild card series to the Dallas Cowboys and a regular-season loss, a low point in Brady’s distinguished career.

Brady was an overlooked candidate after graduating from college and was drafted 199th in the 2000 NFL draft, but he took his chance when it finally came and turned the tide of the Patriots franchise.

Brady was an unknown replacement early in the 2001 season, but took over the starting role in the second game of the season after starter Drew Bledsoe was out with an injury. Brady never gave up the role.

Brady led the Patriots to an 11-3 record that season, culminating in an upset victory over the St. Louis Rams in the Super Bowl, where he was named the game’s MVP and began one of the greatest dynasties in all sports.
