A gruesome discovery was made in the backyard of a mansion in a quiet country town

Bones have been discovered at a property in a country town south of Adelaide.

Police were called to a property on Paris Creek Road in Strathalbyn around 2.30pm on Friday after the bones were found in a backyard.

Forensic investigators were on site to examine the crime scene before a crime scene guard was deployed Saturday morning.

Detectives and forensic investigators continue to search the area with the assistance of STAR Group officers, SES volunteers and local patrols.

Police have urged anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The historic town of Strathalbyn is approximately 55 km south-east of Adelaide’s CBD and has a population of approximately 6,000.
