Japanese police surrounded a post office as a suspected gunman held an unknown number of people hostage following a possible shooting at a nearby hospital.
Authorities in the town of Warabi on Japan’s southern coast said today: “At around 2:15 p.m. today, a person took hostages and hid in a post office in the Chuo 5-chome area of Warabi town…The perpetrator is in possession of something, that looks like a weapon.’
The as-yet-unnamed shooter may have been in his 80s and was wearing a baseball cap and white shirt under a dark coat and what appeared to be a gun attached to a cord around his neck.
