Harry and Meghan ARE invited to the coronation: Charles hands olive branch to estranged Sussexes
Harry and Meghan are invited to King Charles’ coronation despite the aftermath of their explosive Netflix documentary.
Although official invitations for next year’s historic event are still pending, several well-placed sources have told the Daily Mail that Charles kindly handed his son and daughter-in-law an olive branch and told them they would be welcome.
It’s understood his view hasn’t changed despite the recent brickbats the couple threw at him and other family members as part of their multi-million pound deal with the streaming giant.
Plans are moving quickly for the glittering event, which will reflect historic tradition with Charles’ desire for a modern ceremony that represents a slimmer monarchy. The Mail has learned that the King and Queen Consort recently visited Westminster Abbey as part of a full briefing for the event.
St. Edward’s Crown has already been removed from the Tower of London to change size.
And it goes without saying that the Queen Consort, who will be at her husband’s side, has also chosen her crown. It hasn’t been confirmed which one, but the smart money is on the state diadem most recently worn by Queen Elizabeth II to and from the State Opening of Parliament.

The news comes despite the fact that Harry’s much-anticipated memoir, Spare, is set to be released in the new year

The Mail revealed earlier this year that there were concerns about using the Queen Mother’s crown as previously planned amid controversy surrounding the famous 105-carat Koh-I-Noor diamond – although the gem could be removed.
In this week’s Netflix finale, Harry accused his father of being a liar as they sat down to discuss details of his and Meghan’s future at the so-called Sandringham summit in January 2020.
He said it’s “terrifying that my brother is screaming and yelling at me and my dad is saying things that are just not true and my grandmother is sitting still and kind of absorbing it all.”
98% want Sussexes to lose their titles, according to a poll
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan faced a loud critique last night for losing their titles over their repeated attacks on the royal family.
Tens of thousands of The Mail+ readers voted for the couple to be stripped of their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles, while others urged them to voluntarily return them.
A Conservative MP said he would try to introduce legislation to give the Privy Council the power to retake the titles.
Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely plans to introduce the Private Member’s Bill amending the Titles Deprivation Act 1917 in the new year. He questioned why Harry continued to use his titles while “destroying the institution of the monarchy and his family.”
Nile Gardiner, a former adviser to Margaret Thatcher, said the couple had become “two of the most anti-British propagandists in the world”.
Mail readers have voiced calls for the couple to be stripped of their titles, with an overwhelming 98 per cent saying they should no longer be Duke and Duchess. The poll on The Mail+ app and mailplus.co.uk received over 63,000 votes.
The embittered prince also made wild claims that senior royals are determined to take down Meghan after becoming jealous of her popularity by spreading negative stories about her in the media.
He said it was expected that someone who “marries into” the royal family should play a supporting role – taking his late mother as an example – and that tensions surfaced when it became clear that Meghan was “stealing the spotlight – or the job better”. than the person who was born to it’.
Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the myriad of baseless allegations.
And it’s understood that with just over five months leading up to his coronation at Westminster Abbey on May 6, the king is determined not to let the family drama distract him.
A source said: “Harry is his son and His Majesty will always love him. Even if it is difficult at the moment, the door will always remain ajar.”
Another source said they thought it was “unlikely” that the invitation would be withdrawn, even if Harry made more disturbing allegations in his memoir next month.
Palace officials are said to fear the release of the tell-all book Spare, which is expected to make further claims about Harry’s childhood and treatment by the royal family.
Some believe the couple would be “absolutely hypocritical” to show up at the coronation, given the heartache they have inflicted on the family, particularly over allegations of racism and a failure to support them.
“It would be totally hypocritical but not entirely surprising if they did, let’s just say,” an insider noted.
The palace declined to comment, saying the guest list for the coronation has not yet been finalized.
In the last three episodes of Harry & Meghan on Netflix, the 38-year-old prince has all but taken his father out of his life, even hurtfully hinting that he was raised by alternative families in Africa and the army.
While Charles wasn’t always a hands-on father and struggled to balance the demands of a family with his official royal role, friends say it would be wrong to portray him as indifferent.
“I know conversations were going on around them as they attended the coronation and while there are many potential pitfalls until then, I fail to see His Majesty’s stance on this change,” another source suggested.
Whether the Sussexes decide to participate is another matter.
