Heartbroken Brooke Warne shares how hard it was spending her first Christmas and New Year away from dad Shane

The daughter of the late, great Shane Warne has shared a touching video with family supporters on social media about how difficult it was spending Christmas and the New Year without her cricket star dad.

Warne, 52, tragically died of a heart attack while on holiday in Thailand in March last year, sending the cricket world into mourning.

His daughter Brooke Warne, 24, recently took some time off from social media to deal with her grief. However, she recently returned to TikTok to post a heartbreaking video.

“Christmas Eve wasn’t the same, we usually spend Christmas Eve with dad this year,” she said.

“Waking up with him on Christmas Day and you know, all that and Boxing Day… we would normally go to cricket, well he would try to get us to go to cricket.”

“It was really weird without him by our side because then he came back from work and did the dunhill [golf tournament]Being in the UK, he’s always here in the summer,” she said.

“He’s always here to comment on the cricket, he’s always here to take us out of an icy pole, you know, doing little dad things in the summer, taking us to the beach…all the things whom he loved.”

Brooke thanked the supporters for all those behind the push to honor Warne at the Boxing Day Test by wearing his iconic zinc cream and slouch hat, and shared that it was bittersweet because the family also remembered all the good times remember.

“The tributes that everyone did on Boxing Day was the Shane Warne test and everyone is in their slouch hats and I think he would be as incredibly touched as we are,” she said.

“But it was also very hard as you know, it was a constant reminder that he wasn’t here.
