Heinz launches Hot Cross Bun Mayonnaise for Easter

After baffling fans by releasing a creme egg flavored mayo in 2019 and a chocolate and orange mix in 2021, Heinz is at it again.

The brand has launched its Heinz [Seriously] Good Hot Cross Bun Mayo, made from their classic mayonnaise, toasted hot cross buns and swirled with cinnamon spice and fruit chunks.

But that’s not the only bizarre concoction that has landed in time for Easter, with odd hot-cross bun flavors and products launching in UK supermarkets.

Meanwhile, TikTok videos showing new ways to eat Hot Cross Buns have hit one million views over the past 30 days, according to community retailer SPAR evening standard.

Heinz’s controversial new sweet mayonnaise will only be available in 100 limited-edition jars, which must be won before April 2nd.

The Kraft-owned brand isn’t afraid to mix its flavors and last week launched its most alcoholic creation yet, Absolut Vodka.

Heinz has teamed up with the vodka brand to create a vodka sauce for your pasta of choice (the classic choice is penne).

The brands said they were inspired by the recipe, which went viral on TikTok during lockdown in 2020 when home cooks shared their own versions of the pasta recipe on the platform.

For lovers of the recipe who don’t have time to spend in the kitchen, the sauce will be available from Waitrose next month for £2.50 a jar.

Microwave for two and a half minutes then you have your Mug Cake Hot Cross Bun.

The buns – sure to be a hit with any customer who loves banoffee pie – come in packs of four and cost £2.

They are filled with delicious salted caramel fudge and mashed bananas.

The sweet product will be topped with a bun icing, the store’s website announced.
