‘Here Comes the Habibs’ Star Camilla Ah Kin Dies Aged 58 As Former Co-Star Rob Shehadie Pays Tribute: ‘Australia Fell In Love With You’

Here Comes the Habibs actress Camilla Ah Kin has died after a long illness.

Her death was announced on the official Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) Twitter this weekend.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Camilla Ah Kin passed away last night in Sydney at the age of 58 after a long battle with her illness,” they wrote.

“Camilla has been an activist for and within the artist community for 30 years. RIP,” the post continued.

Camilla’s former Here Comes the Habibs co-star Rob Shehadie also shared his own tribute on Twitter.

“Rep Camilla,” he wrote alongside a photo of the couple together on the red carpet.

“Australia fell in love with you as Miriam in Here Comes the Habibs. “We will miss you,” he captioned the picture.

Here Comes the Habibs aired on Channel Nine between 2016 and 2017 and Camilla starred in the comedy as matriarch Mariam Habib.

The acclaimed performer has dozens of acting credits in film, television and on stage.

She was known for her work in the feature films Holding the Man, The Greenhouse, and The Rooster.

Camilla has appeared on the television shows Going Home, Halifax fp, Blue Heelers and All Saints.

On stage she has acted in The Hansard Monologues, Romeo and Juliet and The Night Watchman and was a 2016 Sydney Fringe Festival Ambassador.
