Here’s why the OG Fortnite map is coming back

Fortnite Chapter 1 took over the world in 2017 and now it looks like the OG Fortnite map is coming back in 2023.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 5 has been full of secrets over the past few months. Initially, leaks revealed a major in-game LEGO collaboration for the final season of Chapter 4, but these rumors were quickly debunked. Now, new reports and teasers from both reliable members of the Fortnite community and Epic Games themselves all but confirm that the OG Fortnite map is making its big return to battle royale.

Here’s everything we know so far about the original Fortnite maps coming in Chapter 4, Season 5.

The OG Fortnite map will likely return to the battle royale to complete Chapter 4 in style. Instead of introducing a few new POIs, Epic Games is reportedly taking fans on a journey through time, back to the maps that made their game famous.

Aside from the nostalgia factor, the return of the OG Fortnite cards fits right in with current lore. Vampire Kado Thorne’s time machine allowed him to bring all of the fan-favorite Mythic items from previous seasons back to Fortnite Last Resort. Now it looks like his machine could be malfunctioning and players could be left behind on one of the OG Fortnite maps.

There were also rumors of possible card destruction when leaked voice lines from Dr. Slone warned: “We must leave this island. As soon as we can.” Although many believe that the complete obliteration of the current Fortnite map will occur at the start of Chapter 5, this may be the harbinger of changes to come.

The OG Fortnite map is scheduled to return on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 4 a.m. ET. As Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 5 replaces Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4, one of the original Fortnite maps from Chapter 1 will become available to play.

At this point, leaks reveal that several OG Fortnite cards will consume Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 5 in weekly rotations. Epic Games has yet to confirm the format, but has already announced a foray into the Chapter 1, Season 5 map.
