Larvitar, the rock skin Pokémon and #246 in the Pokédex, made its Pokémon GO alongside its evolutions in 2017.
Descended from Pokémon Gold and Silver, the Larvitar line is considered a pseudo-legendary Pokémon, meaning it has very high stats and is a strong Pokémon overall. Larvitar came to Pokémon GO with great anticipation from the community due to the popularity of it and its evolutions.
Despite being an incredibly powerful Pokemon, the method by which the Larvitar lineage evolves isn’t as complicated as other Pokemon.
In order to evolve Larvitar into Pupitar, it must be fed 25 Candy, which can be most effectively obtained by catching other Larvitar. Once the player obtains their Pupitar, they must feed them 100 Candies, which can be similarly acquired by capturing more Larvitar to evolve them into a Tyranitar.
While this method isn’t as complicated as others, it still takes a while for a player to pull it off. In the main series Pokémon games, the evolution of a Larvitar and a Pupitar into the next evolution can be accomplished through the typical method of leveling up to level 30 and 55, respectively.
Larvitar will be the featured Pokemon in the upcoming Community Day Classic event on January 21st, allowing players not only to catch Larvitar if they don’t already have one, but also to collect more Candy to be able to evolve it.
