How to get Scatterbug in Pokémon GO

In its latest attempt to connect trainers around the world, the entire evolutionary line for Scatterbug has made its Pokémon GO debut.

Perhaps the highlight of the new promotion is that the final evolution of Scatterbug, Vivillon, has 18 different patterns for Trainers to collect. The catch, however, is that the Vivillon patterns are each said to be affected by the climate of their habitat, meaning Scatterbug from different regions evolve into Vivillon with different patterns.

So here is a breakdown of how to get Scatterbug in Pokémon GO.

To get Scatterbug in Pokémon GO, Trainers must pin postcards they receive from a friend from another region. If you collect several postcards from a certain part of the world, you can encounter a scatterbug specifically from that habitat.

More specifically, if you pin a postcard you receive from a friend, you’ll make progress towards the Vivillon Medal, which is linked to that location via Sub-Medals. Trainers can pin their own postcards (up to three of their own per day) as well as postcards they receive from friends. These submedals are associated with the various Vivillon pattern regions.

The first sub-medal requires collecting three postcards from a region associated with the Vivillon patterns. After completing a sub-medal, trainers can progress further toward that sub-medal to earn additional encounters with Scatterbug. The number of postcards required to increase sub-medal rank increases with each rank.

As part of the new Vivillon patterns, trainers in the community are inviting others to share their friend codes on social media to help each other obtain Scatterbug from other regions.
