How to open eye chests in Hogwarts Legacy

Ward Boxes are special containers scattered throughout Hogwarts, but opening them proves to be quite difficult.

With many items to find and collect in the open world of Hogwarts Legacy, getting into every chest and container becomes an important mission. Some are easier to break into than others, but the Eye Chests in particular have left many players perplexed.

Luckily, there’s a simple solution to opening those bizarre eye chests at Hogwarts Castle. Players need to get their hands on a specific spell.

If a player approaches a ward box, they will become startled and shut down, preventing players from doing anything else. To bypass this, players must use the Disenchantment spell.

The Disillusionment Spell is obtained early in the game’s story after starting the Secrets of the Restricted Department main quest. Essentially, this spell allows its user to move more stealthily and remain undetected by the Eye Chests.

Move towards the chest with the spell and press the interact button when prompted to open it. Each chest contains 500 gold, making them a great way to rack up some cash early in the game.

Hogwarts Legacy launches February 10th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game launches April 4th for PS4 and Xbox One, then July 25th for Nintendo Switch.
