Huge black spider seen hanging from roof of house in baldivis, south of perth
(Wstpsot news) The giant spider (pictured) was found hanging from the roof of a house in Baldivis, 45km south of Perth
‘That spider is pissed! The only suggestion is to take your valuables and find a new home,’ joked one local.
Another advised the man to ‘accept that the spider now owns your house and you have to pay rent to stay there’.
Another confused person asked if there was a ‘sack’ attached to it.
They asked: ‘I’ve zoomed in every way I can and that’s the craziest spider I’ve ever seen… where does it start and where does it end?’.
Some suggested it could be a black house spider while others said it was a redback.
But arachnologist Dr Volker Framenau from Murdoch University said the spider was likely to be the common garden orb-weaver Hortophora biapicata.
“These spiders are quite common at this time of year,” he told Yahoo News .
‘This image isn’t the best for identification, but it’s actually the only large orb-weaver spider that’s been around at this time of year in Perth. This would be different in the eastern states, where there are more species in the genus Hortophora.’
