Hunter Biden plans to plead NOT GUILTY for lying about being a drug addict when buying a gun

According to a new court filing, Hunter Biden plans to plead not guilty to federal weapons charges.

Last week, Hunter was charged with three felonies after he allegedly lied about his crack cocaine addiction when purchasing a gun.

The new court filing also states that the president’s son wants to make his first court appearance remotely via video conference.

Unless the president’s son can reach an agreement with prosecutors led by special counsel David Weiss, he will face a jury trial, which would pose a major political burden on his father Joe Biden’s re-election bid in 2024.

Attorney Abbe Lowell wrote in a letter to Judge Christopher Burke on Tuesday: “Mr. Biden is not seeking special treatment with this request. He has attended and will attend all proceedings requiring his physical appearance.’

‘Mister. “Biden will also plead not guilty, and there is no reason he cannot utter those two words via video conference,” the letter continued.

“In short, Mr. Biden believes his constitutional rights will be preserved by conducting his first appearance via videoconference.”

According to the indictment unsealed last week, Hunter lied about his drug use when purchasing a gun in 2018.

The First Son purchased a .38-caliber Colt Cobra pistol in Delaware, a state where every buyer must answer a series of questions before they can get their hands on a gun.

A 2018 application asks whether the applicant uses drugs or is addicted to drugs. The box is clearly marked “No”.

Hunter has admitted that he was addicted to crack cocaine at the time of the gun purchase.

Video discovered on Hunter’s laptop shows him naked and brandishing a handgun in a hotel room in 2018, allegedly five days after purchasing the weapon.

About two weeks later, Hallie Biden, his mistress and his brother’s widow, found it “unlocked” in his truck and threw it in a grocery store trash can. His discovery sparked a police investigation.

Additionally, now-President Biden appeared close to tears in the voicemail he left on Hunter’s abandoned laptop on October 15 – three days after Hunter bought the gun and lied about being a drug addict – pleading for help .

“It’s dad. I called to tell you that I love you. “I love you more than the world, buddy,” Joe said in the Oct. 15 message. “You need help. I know you don’t know what to do, neither do I.’

If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of 25 years and a $250,000 fine.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has ruled out a pardon for Hunter by President Biden.

The White House is not commenting on the new felony charges against the president’s son, and Biden joked last week that he would get in “trouble” if he answered press questions at the end of an economic speech.

Earlier this summer, Weiss’ team cut a deal that freed the president’s son from serving prison time for the alleged firearms crime and two tax violations.

Republicans were quick to label it a “sweetheart deal” designed to protect Joe.

However, the deal collapsed spectacularly in court in July, leaving Hunter open to new charges.

Judge Maryellen Noreika questioned the “diversion agreement” of Hunter’s plea deal — a provision that gave him blanket immunity for a host of other potential charges, including illegal foreign lobbying — and nixed the deal.
