Hurricanes winger Max Pacioretty tears his right Achilles tendon AGAIN

Hurricanes winger Max Pacioretty tears his right Achilles tendon AGAIN and is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing off-season surgery to repair the same injury
Max Pacioretty has torn his right Achilles tendon for a second time, leaving the Carolina Hurricanes without one of their established veterans for the foreseeable future.
Pacioretty was placed on injured reserve after being injured late in the third quarter of Thursday night’s win against Minnesota.
Players placed on IR will be sidelined for at least seven days but this injury will almost certainly end Pacioretty’s season. The 34-year-old underwent surgery in the summer after an initial tear in his right Achilles tendon.

The Connecticut native went down 19.3 seconds into the game while controlling the puck near the goal and ties. He stopped trying to change direction and grabbed the back of his right lower leg.
He had to be helped into the dressing room without putting weight on his leg.
“Not in a very good mood, as you know,” coach Rod Brind’Amour said of Pacioretty on Friday. ‘He’ll be checked through today. … It is as you would expect.”
The Hurricanes acquired Pacioretty from Vegas in a July trade hoping he fills a need as a wing scoring option. He made his season debut on January 5 and played five games for Carolina, scoring three goals.
