I threw a six-year-old girl’s lunch in the trash can after she stole my daughter’s new $50 lunch box — and I would do it again

A mother was furious when her six-year-old daughter came home “in tears” after a classmate stole her $50 bento lunch box – so she took matters into her own hands when the school did nothing.

Jennifer* from Texas was unpacking her daughter’s backpack when she noticed her brand new lunch box was missing.

The child revealed that a classmate, Audrey*, took it from her and refused to give it back – and her teacher insisted she “dropped the thing” because it was “just a lunchbox”.

The mother requested a meeting with the teacher and principal the next day to discuss the dispute. The school insisted that Audrey keep the lunchbox for another day because she brought food in it.

But in the end, the frustrated mother threw Audrey’s lunch in the bin and took the bento box back – leaving the six-year-old in tears.

“I politely asked Audrey to give my daughter her lunch box back, but she started crying,” the mother recalls.

“The teacher asked if it would be okay if Audrey kept it for the day since her food was already in it, but I declined and said they had five minutes to find something else to put her food in , otherwise I would throw it away.”

“Instead of getting her a closed container, they started arguing with me, so I got up, grabbed the bento box and threw the food in the trash.”

Jennifer shared that she doesn’t feel bad about her “childish” behavior because the school provides free food to students.

“Audrey can afford her own bento box, we live in a high-income neighborhood.” “She took my daughter’s lunch because she’s a bully and the school doesn’t discipline her,” she eventually wrote.

Many were divided on the matter, with some applauding Jennifer for standing up for her child.

“Audrey faced no consequences for her actions – she would fight her way out of the situation crying.” “I would have done the same thing,” one mother wrote.

“I can’t believe the school’s response was, ‘Let them have it another day!'” I mean what? You can steal something from another student and still keep it for “another day”?! What kind of school is this?!’ asked another.

A third said: “It’s good that you drew a line in the sand otherwise it would have turned into something more serious. “You enabled her to do this by not taking control of the situation sooner.”

But others criticized her for being rude to a child.

“You acted so immaturely and this whole situation is ridiculous.” “Your temper got the better of you,” one man wrote.

“You’re an idiot for throwing away a child’s food. “What if it went hungry for the rest of the day?” another said.
