Indian star Ravindra Jadeja has been embroiled in a cheating row against Australia

A questionable moment with Indian star Ravindra Jadeja has sparked debate on social media, with former Australia and England stars Tim Paine and Michael Vaughan straining the series.

During his five-wicket tear on day one in Nagpur, the spin bowler was seen approaching a teammate and appeared to take something out of the hand of one of his teammates.

He then rubbed his hands and twisted fingers near and around the ball, although exactly what happened remains unclear.

Footage of the moment that transpired when Alex Carey and Peter Handscomb were at the crease was shared widely on social media, and Paine responded with a tweet: “Interesting.”

The Ashes-winning captain Vaughan also called for answers from cricket officials after reviewing the footage.

He went on to make a five-wicket move as India outplayed Australia for 177 on day one

Jadeja finished the innings ranked 5-42 while the Tourists were eliminated with 177. India finished the first day 1-77 overall.
