IRS whistleblower “Mr

An IRS whistleblower who has claimed that Hunter Biden received preferential treatment during the tax evasion investigation said Friday he wanted to see the appointment of an independent prosecutor “who can go there and make the right charges” to “restore some confidence in our justice system.”
Joseph Ziegler was as “Mr.
Ziegler and Shapley were part of the team investigating Hunter Biden’s tax affairs, and both believed the controversial businessman was not prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Ziegler told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum on Friday night that he was deeply “frustrated” at the undermining of existing rules and said there should have been criminal charges.
Hunter Biden faced civil but not criminal charges and a plea bargain was agreed: Ziegler said it was the wrong decision.

Joseph Ziegler spoke to Fox New host Martha MacCallum on Friday night about the Hunter Biden tax case
“When you’re working on a criminal case, there’s one thing called intent: whether someone intentionally with knowledge either evaded their income tax or filed a false tax return,” Ziegler said.
“And that’s what separates us from a civil trial.” And in this case, we presented a lot of evidence proving intent.
“The ultimate reason I went public is because there were a lot of things I felt were inappropriate — failure to follow due process,” he said.
“And I thought it was my duty to report.
“When we were invited to testify before the congressional committee, I didn’t want to leave my supervisor, Gary. And I thought it was important for my credibility that people hear it directly from me.”
Ziegler, who has worked for the IRS since 2010 after a career as an outside auditor at Ernst & Young, said he feels it’s important to speak out despite the fact that he and his husband have been targeted for abuse online and despite his self-proclaimed leanings as “middle ground Democrats.”
“Ultimately, the reason I came forward and the reason I am releasing this information is that we need to treat taxpayers equally.” “It’s about following the evidence and making sure justice is done,” he said.

Ziegler said he realized there was a problem when they found out about a storage unit owned by Hunter Biden — and that that information was relayed to Hunter Biden’s legal department before they could investigate.
“Our first really big disagreement was about the storage unit — the search warrant for the storage unit,” he said.
“When I found out that she had told the defense attorney that we knew about the storage unit and the filing request included that, I just knew we didn’t know – it was kind of a shot in the pit of the stomach.”
“And we didn’t have a seat at the table.
“And it was really a pivotal moment for me, realizing things aren’t going the way we normally would.”
Ziegler said he felt there was no chance of a fair decision on the charges until Washington, DC, had independent individuals assigned to oversee the case.
“If there are other charges being considered outside of the District of Delaware.” “David Weiss is going to run into the same problem over and over again,” he said, referring to the US Attorney for Delaware, who Ziegler said was blocked from filing charges.
Weiss has denied he was restricted, but Shapley and Ziegler said he was.
“And that’s why we need an independent attorney with the authority to go there and bring the right charges so that confidence in our justice system can be restored,” Ziegler said.
