Sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll are perhaps the first images that come to mind when we think of young musicians on tour.

But pop star Dua Lipa seems determined to debunk that particular stereotype. The 27-year-old singer has revealed how she organized a book club with her crew during her three-year tour starting in 2016.

At the Hay Festival, the New Rules singer said, “When I wasn’t sleeping, I was reading.” It helps you get through so many stories.

“Especially on tour, I felt like I already had a book club with the dancers and the photographer, where everyone shared books with each other.

London-born Ms Lipa has launched a monthly book club through her own newsletter, Service95, as well as a podcast called At Your Service, where she interviews the likes of Sir Elton John and Amal Clooney.

Ms Lipa hosted a live recording of a conversation with Scottish author Douglas Stuart on Hay on Saturday night.
