Shock as Jacinda Ardern resigns as New Zealand PM saying she ‘don’t have enough in the tank’ for another term – and tells her husband Clarke ‘let’s finally get married’

Jacinda Ardern announced her resignation as Prime Minister of New Zealand in an emotional press conference.

Her resignation will take effect on February 7.

‘I am human. Politicians are people. We give everything as long as we can – and then the time has come. And for me, it’s about time,” she said.

“I know what this job requires. And I know I don’t have enough left in the tank to do it justice.”

Ms Ardern shared a message with her partner Clarke Gayford, saying: “Let’s finally get married”.
