James Corden admits he’ll fail at not ‘crying’ on the final episode of ‘The Late Late Show’.

James Corden spoke about his exit from the Late Late Show as he joined his close friend Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on Friday.

The 44-year-old actor stepped down from his hosting duties for the night to be a special guest on the popular NBC talk show.

Corden, who recently admitted it was “terrifying” to leave his show, also shared with Jimmy that he was a huge inspiration for his first career move.

Shortly after the two talk show hosts pulled off a musical number in which they performed a mix of popular Christmas carols such as Wham’s Last Christmas, James was greeted on stage by a cheering crowd.

He donned a classic black velvet suit paired with a brown sweater underneath for a relaxed feel. “I’m so happy to be here. I really am,” the British-born star gushed to Jimmy as the applause died down.

During the interview, the Tonight Show host spoke about James’ departure from The Late Late Show, which will take place in Spring 2023.

The ‘Ocean’s 8’ actor admitted filming the final episode will be anything but easy. “My intention, which I think I will fail dramatically at, is just not to cry the whole hour, which I think I will be.”

“So I’m really going to try to keep it together. Our intention is to leave the way we came in and I will miss it dearly,” he said.

James revealed to Jimmy that the main reason he left was “mainly because we’re a long way from home and we really want our kids to know what it’s like to grow up in London”.

The Peter Rabbit star shares three children, Max, 11; Carey, eight; and Charlotte, five, with his wife, Julia Carey, of ten. He added that he wants his children to have a good relationship with their grandparents. And that’s time you don’t really get back.’

The actor expressed that while he was sad to be leaving the late-night talk show, he felt:sure it is doing the right thing,” adding, “I loved every second of doing it.”

James’ appearance as a guest on The Tonight Show was a first for the actor, but the former Saturday Night Live comedian revealed that the two “hung out together many times.”

The stars then revealed a “running joke” they have, with James explaining it started when he approached Jimmy at a party as the comedian reached for a sip of his drink.

“And I tumbled in, picked it up, looked you dead in the eye and drank the whole thing and put it back again,” James recalled humorously. Since then, the two will often do that extra something when they’re at an event together.

The friends also had a particularly heartfelt moment on the show when James said to Jimmy: “I don’t know if I would have ever hosted my show if I hadn’t watched you make this show and all the people that you have here. ‘

As the interview wound down, the SNL graduate emotionally told James that he would “miss” seeing his show, “and you would do things that would make me want to be better at my job.” So, I want to thank you for everything you do.’

The hosts then shared a quick hug before welcoming Jenna Ortega onto the stage. She drew everyone’s attention wearing a see-through black dress with a white pointed collar and matching cuffs. A black tie was added along with a silver chrome corset to accentuate her slim waist.

Jenna and Jimmy spoke about their famous dance scene from episode four, and she revealed that two days before filming the scene, director Tim Burton asked her to choreograph her own dance.

The talented beauty admitted that while Tim thought she’d been working on something for a while, the star had “no plan”.

Jenna informed Jimmy that she “hadn’t slept in two days” and watched numerous videos for ideas, such as “archive footage of goth kids dancing in clubs in the ’80s.”

The Scream actress explained that Netflix had told her the dance would go viral on TikTok, but that she didn’t believe it. “And then they were right,” she added humorously.
