Joe Alwyn (Taylor Swift’s fiancé) is in a WhatsApp group called Tortured Man Club with Paul Mescal and Fleabag’s hot priest Andrew Scott.

Alwyn and Mescal are naturally connected, being back-to-back leads in Sally Rooney adaptations (“Normal People” and “Conversations With Friends”).

They met Scott two years ago while filming a sketch for RTE Does Comic Relief and they all hit it off – hence the group.

But there’s more than just a bromance here — there’s a network of connections between the three men and three women: Taylor Swift, Mescal’s girlfriend, musician Phoebe Bridgers, and Fleabag writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The Phoebes are friends and Waller-Bridge directed one of Bridgers’ music videos.

Grammy winner Swift is also close to Waller-Bridge; and was recently interviewed by Waller-Bridge’s fiancé, film director Martin McDonagh, about her film ambitions. All very cozy for the magnificent seven!

Swift and Alwyn, who split their time between the US and London, have continued to keep their relationship very private over the past year amid engagement and marriage rumors.

In September 2018, actor Mary Queen of Scots first spoke to British Vogue about her decision to keep the relationship private.

“I’m aware that people want to know about that side of things. I think we’ve been very private and that’s resonated with people now…but I really prefer to talk about work,” he shared.

And months later, he continued to defend to Esquire why they chose not to take their relationship more publicly.

“I haven’t taken any advice on this,” he said when asked whether or not he’d received any advice on how to deal with a high-profile relationship.

In March 2019, engagement rumors began swirling after an insider told Us Weekly that the singer put everything into Joe.

“Taylor’s friends are all talking about proposing and that she really wants to marry Joe. He’s her dream guy.’

In an August 2019 interview with The Guardian, Taylor claimed that she is no longer sharing because the relationship is “not up for discussion.”

“I’ve learned that people think that in this case it’s up for discussion, and our relationship isn’t up for discussion,” she said, adding that it’s a “limit” that she’s set for herself that’s up for grabs keeps her life “manageable”. ‘
