Joe Burrow is the highest-paid player in NFL history.
According to reports from ESPN, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback has agreed to a record $275 million extension that includes nearly $220 million in guarantees.
The contract has a term of five years.
Burrow, who led the Bengals to AFC North titles the past two seasons and a Super Bowl appearance in 2021, has been negotiating a long-term contract with the Bengals for some time.
While Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has the highest total contract value at $450 million through 2031, his average annual salary of $45 million is still below Burrow’s $55 million.

The news comes amid injury concerns regarding his availability for the Week 1 opener against Cleveland.
Burrow went all out in practice Wednesday and said he was on track to play in Sunday’s opener in Cleveland after a calf injury sidelined most of the preseason.
“I’m fine,” Burrow said Wednesday in his first comments to reporters since his July 27 injury. “I’m ready to go. “We’ll see how the next few days go because you never know with these things, but I’m assuming I’ll play.”
The 26-year-old Pro Bowler hobbled on one leg on July 27 and then fell to the ground as he climbed out of the bag. He drove off the field in a medical van. He finally returned to training a week ago after missing more than a month.
