Josh Sills: Philadelphia Eagles NFL player charged with rape and kidnapping ahead of Super Bowl

Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Josh Sills faces rape and kidnapping charges days before the Super Bowl
Josh Sills, an offensive linesman for the Philadelphia Eagles, was charged with rape and kidnapping just 10 days before the Super Bowl.
It is alleged that Sills, who is six feet six inches tall and weighs 325 pounds, “was involved in sexual activity that was not consensual and held a victim against her will”.
Ohio prosecutors said Wednesday that Sills “violently restrained and raped a woman” in December 2019, prompting the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office to open an investigation into the incident.
Following the investigation, a grand jury has charged Sills, 25, with one count of rape and one kidnapping, and he is expected in court on February 16.
Sills went undrafted in 2022 but was picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles in April and set up his final lineup when he played the Cardinals in week five.

Sills wasn’t drafted last year but was scheduled to leave for the Super Bowl with the Eagles next week
He’s listed as the second pick on the right side of the Eagles’ depth chart and had a good chance of getting some playing time in the Super Bowl on Feb. 12.
It is currently unclear whether he will continue to travel with the team to the game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Arizona or remain on the team’s roster.
As things stand, he is scheduled to appear in court on February 16, just four days after the end of the Super Bowl.
The Eagles have yet to publicly comment on the charges.
Sills attended high school in Meadowbrook, Ohio before playing for West Virginia from 2016-2019 and then for Oklahoma State College Football in 2020-2021.
His parents, John and Kim, made headlines in 2021 after an article revealed they had traveled to every single one of their son’s games – bar one – covering over 232,000 miles in their 2013 Nissan Altima.
His NFL career is currently only four snaps old, with right guard – and sometimes tackle – showing up briefly in week five against the Arizona Cardinals.
