Kate Gosselin brands her 19-year-old son Collin “violent and unpredictable” and says he “received multiple psychiatric diagnoses” – and accuses him of “fabricating” allegations that she “abused” him as a child.

Kate Gosselin has targeted her 19-year-old son Collin, branding him “violent and unpredictable” and claiming he “made up” abuse allegations against her.

The 48-year-old former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star made a sensational statement Friday against her teenage son after he appeared on the VICE TV documentary Dark Side of the 2000s, in which he claimed his mother “abused” him as a child, she separated him from his seven siblings after separating from his father Jon.

Mum-of-eight Kate broke her silence on her child’s shocking claims just a day after her daughter Mady, 22, shared a lengthy statement on her Instagram Stories accusing Collin of “physical violence and hate speech”.

In her own words, Kate echoed Mady’s claims, saying the reason Collin was sent to the Fairmont Behavioral Health Institute in Philadelphia in 2016 was because he “received multiple psychiatric diagnoses.”

In her lengthy statement, Kate said, “I never wanted to have to do this, but I feel like I’m being cornered and have no choice.” While it saddens me, I must now speak out.

“My son Collin, whom I love with all my heart, has had multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years. For my safety, that of his brothers and sisters, and his own well-being, he was placed in a facility after years of outpatient treatment that proved insufficient for his needs.

“The decision to take him in was made by paramedics after one of his many assaults/escapes – this one involved the use of a weapon.”

she continued PEOPLE: “Fast-forward to the present day, and after Jon took Collin out of treatment, my son’s unpredictable and violent behavior towards Jon, Hannah and others around him has sadly continued on a regular basis.”

“Collin’s distorted perception of reality is one of the many issues he has always struggled with.” As many people whose family members struggle with mental health problems can attest, when outright fabrications occur is rare and sadly surprising , and that’s just another heartbreaking aspect of this fight.”

The former reality TV star went on to say that “all parent-child relationships are complex,” describing the situation as “incredibly complicated and painful.”

She said: “Any actions taken at our home were made on the specific recommendation of his child psychiatrist and/or team of specialists and were taken to protect every member of our family, our friends, as well as our pets.”

“Unfortunately, I believe that Collin is still a very troubled young man who continues to need a great deal of help.” His brothers and sisters and I were not directly involved in his life due to his unpredictable behavior and violent tendencies towards us.

“What his sister Mady recently posted on social media is completely correct and I deeply appreciate her courage in doing so.” ‘ Kate added.

Kate’s claims are in complete contrast to what her ex-husband told VICE TV when he claimed doctors didn’t have a diagnosis for his son.

The former TV star, who now DJs in his free time, claimed he spent $1 million to get his son out and get sole custody. He already had custody of his daughter Hannah, who was also 19.

In response to Kate’s statement, Jon told DailyMail.com that his ex-wife “couldn’t control her abusive words” towards Collin.

Jon said: “Kate’s posting of horrific false allegations about Collin seems just another way for her to justify her past inexcusable, horrible behavior towards him. True love for a child would not mean a mother publicly attacking her son.”

“Collin had to be cleared by the Marines with a full background check, including mental, physical and medical clearances from the US Marine Corps.” “The government’s full diagnoses clearly reflect the truth.”

He continued, “Don’t forget that a judge awarded his father sole custody of Collin.” Kate didn’t even appear in court and lost sole custody of her own son.”

“Faced with these brand new false accusations, it seems clear that even today she is unable to control her abusive words towards him after not having seen her son since the 6th grade.

“At this point, Collin is training to be a Marine to serve his country and is unable to respond to his mother’s callous lies,” Jon added.
