Katherine Jenkins performs at the Pope’s Christmas concert in Rome after losing her luggage

Katherine Jenkins vowed “the show must go on” after her luggage was lost on her British Airways flight as she headed to Rome to perform for the Pope.

The 42-year-old mezzo-soprano sang at the Vatican’s annual Concerto di Natale as part of Pope Francis’ Christmas celebrations last night at the Auditorium Conciliazione.

But she was furious after British Airways lost her bags – including her clothes – on her trip to Rome and feared having to cancel the performance.

However, hours before the scheduled appearance, she posted a video to Instagram of herself wearing a black coat.

She captioned the post with a laughing emoji: “The show must go on.” Katherine initially said that if her luggage was not found, she would not be able to do so.

Katherine shared more snaps to her Instagram Stories, giving a glimpse of her special performance and revealing her bags had arrived just in time.

Katherine pointed out her shoes, wore trainers – and added a face palm emoji to express her anger.

In another post, she gave fans an update: “Just 20 minutes before I go on stage for the performance, the bags have arrived. Almost 2 days late.’

She also shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp message from British Airways’ customer service line asking for their feedback on their experience with the airline.

Already having a busy Christmas concert schedule, Katherine performed with Sir Cliff Richard and Lord of the Rings and Marvel star Andy Serkis last week at the Christmas event at the Royal Albert Hall – her 50th appearance at the venue.

Katherine was upset because it wasn’t the first time her bags had gone missing while traveling from London with BA.

She wrote: “OMG! @British-Airways lost my luggage AGAIN! I’m supposed to sing at the Pope’s Christmas concert in Rome tomorrow. I feel so let down that I won’t be able to perform. Please clarify this.’

British Airways responded to the call on Twitter to help locate her missing clothes.

A British Airways spokesman told MailOnline: “We are doing everything we can to reunite our customer with their delayed baggage as quickly as possible.

‘We apologize for the inconvenience caused.’

The mezzo-soprano – who is married to 45-year-old artist and director Andrew Levitas – has been busy lately and recently celebrated her 50th performance with a show at the Royal Albert Hall.

The show must go on: Later in the day, however, she posted a video of her dress rehearsal to Instagram, in which she was forced to wear sweatpants

She has performed for the Pope in the past and has done so a connection with the royal family.

In September she was selected to record the first version of the new national anthem God Save the King.

The Welsh opera singer, 42, told Good Morning Britain presenters Susanna Reid and Ben Shepherd she had actually recorded something for the Queen after receiving the news that Her Majesty had died aged 96.

“First we stopped what we were doing. We had a moment of silence,” she said.

From a small church in rural Sussex, BBC Radio 4 called Katherine and asked her to finish the World at One program with God Save the King.

Katherine, who was one of the Queen’s favorite singers and has performed for the royal family on several occasions, said she “needed to really think about the lyrics” which have changed to reflect King Charles III.
