Kia Soul is thrown 10 feet in the air after plowing in a loose wheel on LA’s freeway

A Kia Soul car was thrown 10 feet into the air while traveling down a Los Angeles highway after a wheel came off a widened pick-up truck that drove alongside.

The dramatic moment captured on dashcam video shows a Chevrolet Silverado swerving down the street – just seconds before its left front wheel comes off.

The loose wheel then rolled into the left lane directly in front of the Kia, catapulting the car into the air and allowing it to roll once before coming to a stop.

It happened on Thursday, March 23, on the Ronald Reagan Freeway in Chatsworth, Los Angeles. The LAPD confirmed that no one was injured.

Video captured with a Tesla dash cam shows the wheel popping out of the truck and rolling under the Kia, propelling it into the air and flipping it upside down.

Anoop Khatra, who was driving the Tesla, shared the footage online and noted that the autopilot feature caused the car to roll around the loose wheel, which rolled toward his after derailing the Kia.

His Tesla slowed to a halt in the debris and well behind the Kia. The wheel then rolls into the stationary car and into its trunk.

The Chevrolet, reduced to three wheels, had switched on the brake lights and gradually drifted to the right side of the road before also coming to a stop.

Khatra said the driver of the Kia was the only occupant in the car and they escaped with no major injuries.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Storyful that there were no major injuries after the incident.
