- Police opened fire on the knifeman, wounding him before arresting him
A knifeman attacked and injured several passengers at the Gare du Nord train station in Paris.
The frenzy, carried out with a homemade blade, began at 6.40am local time at Europe’s busiest train station.
The police shot the attacker dead, “neutralized” him and arrested him.
Six people are said to have been injured in the killing spree, including a border police officer.

Home Secretary Gerald Darmanin said this morning: “A person injured several people at the Gare du Nord this morning.
“He was quickly neutralized. Thanks to the security forces for their effective and courageous response.”
While traffic around the station is disrupted, authorities said the station is now operating normally.
The TER Hauts-de-France rail network said in a statement: “Traffic will be disrupted on departure and arrival from Paris Nord.
“Police have opened fire on a menacing individual who is said to have injured customers at the Gare du Nord.
“The person was brought under control, the emergency services intervened and the person was evacuated.
“A security perimeter has been established, but the station continues to operate normally.”
